Healing Colours of Vegetables & Fruits
Veggies are not only greens. Mix them with a variety of shades such as red, yellow, orange and purple and each color brings a new set of vitamins and minerals to the dish. The color of raw food benefits your body and psyche. But the color of food can benefit you only when taken raw or steamed, never overcooked. Different colors have different significances and are associated with certain organs.
The red color in fruits and vegetables is for energizing the body. An emotionally intense color, it uplifts your spirits and pulls you out of depression. It reduces the risk of heart disease and blood disorders. Carrots, beets, watermelon, red pepper, cherry are in the red color category.
Calming green color compliments red, it is found in cabbage, spinach, guava, and grape. The color prevents cancer and cardiovascular diseases, also soothes the nerves.
Neutralizing white is a neutral color. It is used to make a new beginning evokes purity and cleanliness and brings about mental clarity. Cauliflower, potato, onion come under the color.
Blue and Purple
Peaceful blue and purple are serene colors. Examples are found in blueberry, blue plum, purple cabbage, black currant. The color is for curing throat problems and evoking a sense of tranquility. It is good for sleeping disorders and for heart, blood pressure, and eye problems. Also, it helps in healthy aging.
Merry yellow increases your metabolism, enhances concentration. This color is beneficial for all the endocrine system and for intestines. Examples are sweet lime, yellow pepper, and mango.
Cheerful orange compliments blue, and is good for the digestive system as well as the sexual organs. These foods are great anti-oxidants and toxin eliminators. they make you feel sociable and willing to try new things. Examples are pumpkin, and citrus fruits like oranges, grapes, tangerines, etc.
Violet and indigo are sobering colors that complement yellow. Soothing colors make one feel sober and sedate, also associated with spirituality. They help in mental disorders and prevent head/scalp diseases. Also, are excellent memory-booster. Examples are found in blackberry, eggplant, black grapes.
